Meet Noor Kaur, the radiant #FalguniShanePeacockBride, whose wedding journey took her from bustling Delhi to the serene landscapes of Queenstown, New Zealand. With a vision of elegance and authenticity, she chose her destination wisely and her wedding outfit meticulously. Let’s dive into her sweet fairy tale, exploring her meticulous planning, her connection with Falguni Shane Peacock, and the magical moment when she saw herself as a bride.
Q) Tell us about your wedding celebration.
We had our events spread through Auckland and Queenstown in New Zealand. We had our Ganesh Pooja and Sukhmani Sahib Paath in Auckland; and our Sangeet and wedding ceremony in Queenstown.
Q) How did you go about planning your wedding?
The first decision we made was the destination, and it was a tricky one at that. Eventually, we chose Queenstown because of the beautiful and natural sceneries it offers and the sense of calm and serenity we feel when we go there. From there on, everything was based around that, we wanted to nail the Queenstown vibe and keep it as natural and authentic as possible. Some of our vendors were Queenstown-based and some flew with us from Auckland. In choosing our vendors it was important to us to select people who shared the same vision as ours and someone we could connect with. It just makes the whole process a lot easier when your vendors understand you. We were really lucky to have that and work alongside some really creative minds who brought our vision to life.
Q) How did you decide upon your outfits?
I made a trip to Delhi for all my wedding shopping. I had a fair idea in mind for my outfits. For my wedding outfit in particular I wanted something slightly different, something fairly subtle but special and something that would match the atmosphere of Queenstown. We decided that Harshae (my then fiance, now husband) won’t see my outfit until the day of the wedding, so I wanted to make sure it would be something he likes as well, which is simple yet elegant. My mother’s favourite colour is baby pink and I wanted to reflect that in my outfit. We went around most stores but surprisingly the Falguni Shane Peacock outfit that I wore for my wedding was the very first outfit I tried and I knew it was the one because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. But you know how it can be while bridal shopping—you can’t come to Delhi and pick the first outfit you see, so I took my mother’s advice, looked around and came back two days later to place my order for the same bridal outfit by Falguni Shane Peacock.
Q) Why did you pick Falguni Shane Peacock?
I wanted to pick a designer who had worked with brides all over the world because I wasn’t going to be able to come back for trials, so it had to be a ‘one-shot wonder’. I liked the look of the ‘Love Always’ collection at the time, because it matched the style I wanted to go for that I’d mentioned previously. When I went into the Falguni Shane Peacock store, I was warmly greeted and felt that the team cared about making sure I was matched with the most suitable outfit. I immediately felt at ease and felt calm. The blush pink outfit was just being brought out, it had arrived in the store that very day and it caught my eye and I asked if I could try it on. When I tried it on I remember not wanting to take it off. From there the process was as simple as it can get, especially for an overseas bride. The team was so helpful with all my customisation requests and also gave great advice which benefited me.
Q) Describe the moment when you saw yourself as a bride.
I wanted to make sure that whatever I chose to wear on my wedding day, it would make me feel like myself and that’s how I felt when I first saw myself as a bride, I felt like me. I felt comfortable, at peace and calm, ready to see Harshae, our parents, our siblings and all our wonderful family and friends that had travelled all the way to celebrate with us. I knew it was going to be one of the best days of my life!
