For almost every bride, the most special moment is the one where they tie the knot. But for #PeacockBride Ravina Chavan, it was a moment before that when she saw herself as a bride that everything fell in place and a happy realisation hit her—that’s it is all actually happening for real! From not having Rajasthan on her list of wedding destinations to zeroing down on Fairmont Jaipur to wed at, from curating outfits since a young age for even the smallest of occasion to styling herself for her most special day, and from planning every little detail way before the wedding date to letting loose and having a whole lot of fun—Ravina’s wedding story is one worthy of sharing and here’s an excerpt of the same! Q) Tell us about your wedding celebration.
The wedding affair was spread over two days across four functions viz. Mehendi, Sangeet, Haldi and Wedding—and through all the functions a whole lot of dancing was involved. After a crazy amount of location scouting we finalised Fairmont hotel in Jaipur. Rajasthan was not on my radar at all, however when we saw the property I was awestruck!
Q) How did you go about planning your wedding?
I cannot even start answering this question without mentioning my family. The whole and sole credit goes to them. My mother is an ingenious planner, my father an epitome of supervision and my older sister a master of meticulousness. Without them this event wouldn’t have been possible. My partner’s creativity and organisation skills kicked in at the time and I saw a whole new side of him. We all wanted the wedding to be personalised to the last detail and that’s what we ensured throughout all the functions.
Q) How did you decide upon your outfits?
When I went to the Falguni Shane Peacock store in Mumbai, it came down to two outfits: an ombré orange Lehenga and the ivory gold Lehenga. However, when I tried the ivory one and saw myself in the mirror I had goosebumps. At the risk of being dramatic, it was at that point I knew I had to walk down the aisle in this outfit. The hues of ivory and gold helped me bring to life the ethereal look that I had envisioned for myself.
Q) Why did you pick Falguni Shane Peacock?
In my head I visualised myself as a Falguni Shane Peacock bride as soon as my wedding date was decided. I have always been very particular about my style since I was in school. Falguni Shane Peacock’s sombre colours, crystal embroidery and chrome appliqué work appealed to my sense of aesthetics. Even as a child, I always curated my outfits with utmost enthusiasm—be it a Diwali party or the children’s day event at school. The fine detailing and extravagance of the veils and trails always stood out for me in the brand’s ensembles and I knew it would be the right choice for me!
Q) Describe the moment when you saw yourself dressed up for the do.
After three hours of hair and make-up amidst other last minute preparations for the final Vidhi and all the chit chatter about the Baraat arriving, I was really just waiting to see my fiancé. At the final stage of getting ready, after I draped my Dupatta and the whole look came together, suddenly I could see everyone’s faces change around me. That’s when I finally saw myself as a bride. All the nervousness disappeared and I was filled with pure joy and excitement!
