This girl in the B-town came as a ‘Good Newwz’ and put to rest the ‘Fugly’ days for drab content. That’s Kiara Advani for you!
Born as Alia Advani, Kiara was always meant to take the Bollywood center stage due to her rich lineage of veterans who contributed their finest to the Indian cinema. A true-blue South Mumbai girl, Alia, soon found her way in the film industry and, in no time, bagged her first movie ‘Fugly’ in 2014. An interesting story of how Alia Advani became Kiara Advani ensued ahead of her first release. It is stated that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan changed the actor’s name, and she was rechristened as ‘Kiara’ inspired by Priyanka Chopra’s character ‘Kiara’ from the film ‘Anjaana Anjaani.’
While ‘Fugly’ was a box-office dud, Kiara’s performance shone through and made a statement ‘She is here to stay’ for her. This was proven right again with her next outing ‘M.S.Dhoni – An Untold Story,’ a biography based on the life of ace cricketer M.S.Dhoni. Kiara was seen playing Dhoni’s love interest and a real-life character ‘Sakshi’ in the film. Her impressive repertoire of work kept growing as she added movies such as ‘Machine,’ ‘Lust Stories,’ ‘Kalank,’ ‘Kabir Singh’ and Good Newwz’ to her list. Kiara’s character ‘Megha’ in Karan Johar’s segment of ‘Lust Stories’ was well-received as the story unfolded sexuality for its viewers in a never-seen-before manner. At the same time, her portrayal of ‘Preeti’ in ‘Kabir Singh’ highlighted the subtle nuances of a woman encountering toxic masculinity in the name of love. Parallely, Kiara also made her debut in Telugu film industry in 2018 with ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ opposite southern superstar Ram Charan.
Kiara’s relationship with the spotlight doesn’t just restrict her to movies. The actress was seen in a Yo Yo Honey Singh’s video ‘Urvashi’ alongside Shahid Kapoor. The video hit its first million within hours after its release and went on to become one of the highest viewed videos of 2019. It is not just her acting skills that grab all the eyeballs, but also her taste in fashion that adds to her wow factor. Known to make the best of fashion moves, the fashion critics of the industry have given a thumbs-up to Kiara’s fashionista side. She has graced the covers of some of India’s best fashion magazines and has walked the ramp as a showstopper for many well-known designers.
With four films in her kitty, two of which slated for a release in 2020, we can surely say Kiara Advani is on a roll. A performer of today and a superstar of tomorrow, she is the girl to watch out for now!
