London-based Gill Button is a painter who draws inspiration from fashion icons and models, which she perceives from the lens of the media and then interprets with a fluid, gestural style. Button uses the public eye as a frame through which she channels emotional identification, thus making her artworks less about her and more about the emotions behind the image. Her work oscillates between the timeless dramatic narratives that we seen more often now in the media world and the fragility realities of life. A graduate of Kingston College of Art London, Button is a curator and judge of the Ing Discerning Eye exhibition. She has given a masterclass in painting and has spoken a various panel discussions too, along with exhibiting at several prestigious events like the London Art Fair and others.
