[Q] ONE COMMON MAKEUP MISTAKE MADE BY INDIAN BRIDES?
“I am of the opinion that people should be allowed to wear the kind of makeup they want to, the only thing they should keep in mind is to not overdo it. Take a look at yourself, and asses for you, maintain a balance. If your outfit is really heavy and exaggerated go easy on the makeup, otherwise if your outfit is simple, you can wear elaborate makeup. For your wedding day go for classic makeup so that years down the line it will still remain relevant, but if you follow trends, it will fade out after a while and that will show in your wedding pictures.”
[Q] A MAKEUP/SKINCARE TRICK THAT IS A MUST FOR EVERY BRIDE?
“Do not just rely on makeup, if you’re preparing for your big day, start with your skin-care regime in advance. If your skin is in good condition your makeup will enhance your look, but you cannot entirely rely on your makeup. Also, make sure your skin is hydrated. ”
[Q] HOW CAN YOU MATCH YOUR MAKEUP WITH YOUR BRIDAL ENSEMBLE?
“Your makeup needs to complement your bridal ensemble and the whole look. Do not try and match entirely, it will not look flattering. Let’s say if you’re wearing something completely beige or gold with a tinge of red you can incorporate it in your makeup. That will accentuate your makeup instead of making it look monochromatic.”
[Q] INDIAN WEDDINGS HAVE VARIOUS DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS. HOW CAN ONE KEEP THEIR MAKEUP LOOKS DIFFERENT FOR EVERY FUNCTION?
“You can create different looks for different functions as you can have fun and play with your makeup on your mehendi and sangeet functions. You can do something that is more current and fashion. As compared to what you should do your wedding day, which should be classic more classic? As my classic is a winged liner and red lip, which never goes out of style, fun events like Mehendi or pool party you can add colour and glitter and make it quirky.
[Q] WHAT SHOULD A BRIDE KEEP IN MIND BEFORE PICKING HER MAKEUP ARTIST?
“You need to look at what kind of makeup they do and whether or not it resonates with what you want. If not, you need to check with them beforehand. Also, look at their profile and check the kind of different people they are working with, if they are working with the same set of people, then they have a particular style of working and if they work with a lot of people then they will be more open to experimentation and ideas.”
[Q] HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO GET A TRIAL DONE BEFORE THE BIG DAY?
“If you’re not sure about the artist you can have a trial, but until you have your clothes and jewellery but it doesn’t complete the look. So if you want to get a trial done, have one element of your outfit on you so you put the look together and see for yourself.”
[Q] HOW CAN BRIDES KEEP THE MAKEUP FRESH FOR LONG HOURS?
“There are a few things you need to make sure of, good skin care before the makeup, well moisturized and hydrated so that your skin is not too dry or too oily. Use a good foundation that stays for long without oxidizing and always ask your bridesmaid to carry a pouch with your lip and powder touchup products. Also, make sure you don’t go too heavy on the foundation and it should be according to your skin type.”
[Q] A LOT OF TIMES, BRIDES TEND TO LOOK OVERDONE, HOW CAN THEY AVOID THAT?
“If you’re the kind of person who does everything then you can do everything on your big day because you will pull it off. But, if you’re the kind of person who is minimal and doesn’t do much regularly than it may look out of the usual which will make you uncomfortable and it will show in your wedding pictures.”

[Q] MOST INDIAN BRIDES TEND TO GO FOR RED LEHENGAS COMBINED WITH RED LIPS AND HEAVY EYES. WHAT IS THE TRICK TO GET THIS RIGHT?
“You have to play with the texture, if you’re going for matte lips, your eyes can be Tilted towards soft metallic, make sure the intensities are different. Even if you’re going for an all-out eye makeup you need to keep it soft by changing the texture and intensity. For example, if I am going for the red lip and smoky eye combination, instead of doing a black smoky eye, I will do bronze. One part of the features have to be less intense in terms of the depth of the colour and you will get it right. ”
